Banteay Chhmar was built by King Jayavarman VII, the builder of Bayon, and its walls carry some of the finest bas-reliefs of the period. Nearby Banteay Top is a small, graceful temple with leaning towers.
The day ends at Ang Trapaeng Thmor, an old reservoir that is now a sanctuary for rare water birds.
